Pedagogical Research
The speed of technology involved in the 3D Digital Design field of study has been growing exponentially, which makes research a crucial part of our major. Some research needs to be done methodically and some may be experimental. It is also important to plan out short-term and long-term researches. Nowadays research is no longer a plus as it used to be, but rather a necessity.
Additionally it is important to be involved in a variety of research, and not just the types that is predicted to be ideal. For example, learning physical sculpting can enrich my knowledge about digital sculpting. Or learning traditional mold-making so I can be a smarter 3D-printing enthusiast.
Creating recorded tutorials and demos for my students over the years has become a new way for me to push myself to refine my skills further, for the sake of becoming a more resourceful teacher.
Virtual Reality
VR is no longer a merely cool thing, but rather a new package of effective tools with valuable ergonomic solutions that can erase the bad habits of traditional chair and desk
3D Printing
The outcome of 3D printing can be the closest feeling of giving birth to one’s own art
Drones
Drones have become another case of tools that exceeded the realm of “cool”. I have been using drones for 3D scanning (Photogrammetry), footage for video tracking, cinematography and filmmaking, and more
Attending Professional Courses
Recorded demos and tutorials have been the bread and butter of advancing my knowledge in software and aesthetic for the longest time. But attending professional courses by industry professionals has different and deeper importance. In the first place, I learn to be a better teacher by learning from the amazing teachers I attend classes with. Also learning new information and workflows, great for networking with professors and peers, and having a better overview of the future of the industry of 3D Design.
Original Video Tutorials
Allows me to capture, edit, and visually illustrate my educational information in the most concise way I can offer to all my students, any time, 24/7. For years it used to bother me that the best answers to student questions had to be dependent on the time, the timing, and number of students in a session, until I finally became ready to record with quality
